Climate change has become a real hot topic in recent months. At DELDICHE, we also consider the environment an important stakeholder. We do however produce and sell functional and convenience food, which is generally sold in plastic packaging. As such, we are part of the throwaway society although we mainly produce healthy food. We can only continue to do this in the long term if we pay attention to the environment and climate.
Respect for people and environment has been one of our strategic objectives for many years already. DELDICHE strongly believes in food safety and sustainability. The majority of our packaging is made from at least 90% recycled plastic. At the end of 2018, we also decided to start mapping our company’s carbon footprint with the help of CO2logic, a Belgian SME with an excellent reputation for this.
CO2logic performed an audit of our operations, which it completed at the end of February. The outcome was very positive! In fact, it was so positive that we have decided to accelerate our plans and become a carbon-neutral company. We are proud to have been awarded the CO2 Neutral© label (see attachment).
The CO2 Neutral© label (validated by Vinçotte) guarantees that companies that were awarded this label actively calculate, reduce and compensate their local and global climate impact. Unlike ‘greenwashing’, this label can only be achieved through serious climate efforts.
To this end, we have also devised a plan to take further measures to reduce our CO2 emissions. We will also continue to offset our remaining CO2 emissions.
This ensures that DELDICHE can continue to be your sustainable partner for Mediterranean delicacies now and in the future.
